Meat’s off the menu for more & more people!
The vegetarian market around the world has been rapidly growing as more and more people want to start eating both healthier food & animal free food for ethical reasons. Beef consumption has been falling since it peaked at an annual 70 kg per person in 1977 and has been hovering around 37kg over the past decade.
This is due to several factors including ethical & environmental reasons for people reducing meat from their diets.
Nicholas Stern, author of the 2006 Stern Review on the economics of climate change recently told a British newspaper: "Meat is a wasteful use of water and creates a lot of greenhouse gases. It puts enormous pressure on the worlds resources. A vegetarian diet is better".
